2015 has been an exciting and sometimes challenging year for MMJ patients and Cannabis activists. Without a doubt, it was the biggest year yet and the momentum is continuing into 2016. For the first time ever, a presidential candidate during a live televised debate suggested that we should federally legalize Cannabis. Public support for both Medical Marijuana and Adult-use is steadily above 80% and 50% respectively and the medical breakthroughs being made in the US, and more so in other countries, continues to lend support to the notion of medicinal benefits.
We saw a great article over at Green Flower Media that inspired us for this weeks blog post. Green Flower Media has been an inspiration to many with their breakthrough video series "Coming out green". The aim with this video series is to end the negative social stigma attached to Cannabis. Real people, real stories.
and without further ado, our top 15 moments in 2015 MMJ news to feel thankful about

January
1- The American Academy of Pediatrics urges the DEA to reclassify cannabis from its current status as a schedule 1 controlled substance. This would allow proper research to be conducted in order to determine the efficacy of Cannabis as a medicine.
2- One year after legalization, Colorado police confirm that “everything is just fine.” The sky didn't fall and the cartels haven't invaded. In fact, statistics show that legalization has hurt the illegal international drug cartels.
February
3- Alaska becomes the third state to legalize Cannabis, although it was the first to decriminalize person possession decades ago.
4- Cannabis becomes legal in Washington DC. and supporters celebrate by handing out free Cannabis seeds for adults to plant and legally cultivate.
March
5- Citizens in Connecticut win the right to have their convictions for Cannabis possession erased. Which is great, because $10 of Cannabis should not disqualify you from obtaining student-loans to attend college.
April
6- Georgia issues it's first medical marijuana card. Although the MMJ program in Georgia only allows for oil, it's kind of fun and odd to see it happen in Georgia. A long way to go still.
May
7- Actor Morgan Freeman comes out full force in support of Cannabis as a medicine and as a supporter for legalization. Just imagine the PSA's he could do for the Cannabis community, that voice is golden.

June
8- A nine year old autistic boy speaks his first words just two days after receiving cannabis oil. search words- Kalel Santiago, Puerto Rico, CBD autism
9- Oregon legalizes adult-use cannabis with one of the more favorable current sets of laws and regulations in the nation.
August
10- After serving 20 years of a life sentence for non-violent marijuana offenses, pot prisoner Jeff Mizansky gets paroled! This was no easy effort and included years of participation from lawmakers, activists and thousands of supportive MMJ patients.
September
11- The always popular Men's Warehouse founder George Zimmer comes out as a supporter for Cannabis legalization. Not only that, but he mentions the fact that he has been smoking it for 50 years and it hasn't slowed him down one bit.
October
12- The US Department of Justice announces the release of 6,000 non-violent drug offenders. Again, in some states, $10 of Cannabis can get you 10 years in jail. That just isn't right.
13- Canada elects new Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau who had openly campaigned with the desire to legalize Cannabis federally. The wheels are already in motion for our neighbors to the north.

November
14- The US Senate passes a bill allowing Veterans access to Medical Marijuana. Need we say more?
15- Mexico's Supreme court rules in favor of four plaintiffs seeking the use and cultivation of Cannabis as a constitutional right. The ruling sets precedent for future actions which could ultimately lead to the federal legalization of Cannabis in Mexico.
And the year isn't over yet!
