Medical Marijuana for Nausea in Seniors

Medical Marijuana holds promise for treating a variety of conditions. There are different methods of ingestion, levels of active compounds as well as the ratios of these active compounds to consider. As you can see, it can get complicated quick but research is charging forward with new data and hypothesis. There is a plethora of encouraging lab results awaiting human, clinical trials.

We appreciate and respect the value that our readers put into our reporting, we work hard to verify the facts and to find them from multiple sources. "Conditions" is a new section that focuses on many common ailments amongst Seniors and the role that MMJ can play. Today, we will focus on the most widely accepted medical use for Marijuana, treatment for Nausea and as an appetite stimulant. There is virtually no resistance to this fact amongst medical professionals and even the anti-drug lobby.

Nausea was one of the earliest focuses of modern-day Marijuana research, beginning in the 1970s. Successful clinical trials led to FDA approval for two THC-based pharmaceuticals in 1985 – nabilone (sold as Cesamet) and dronabinol (sold as Marinol). New research has shown that these synthetic forms of THC are less effective than the actual plant. Inhaling Marijuana has been the preferred choice of patients, possibly due to the benefits of an entourage effect with other cannabinoids. Cesamet and Marinol do not contain the natural cannabinoids found in Medical Marijuana.

There isn't much need to expound on the potential benefits from Medical Marijuana for these conditions. The truth is out there, even from groups who are not considered friendly to Medical Marijuana. We encourage you to click the links and read further into the benefits of MMJ for nausea and appetite stimulation.

In addition to the mountain of science and documented results, we didn't need to look far to find a person with direct experience. We simply looked to the other side of the office -

"Without a doubt, Marijuana has helped me with fighting nausea and has also worked as an appetite stimulant. My symptoms go back a long time. In my teens, doctors thought the problem could be an ulcer, so we went to the hospital and I had to drink the chalkiest substance I've ever encountered. I was put in a machine and they looked at my insides as this liquid worked its way through. Nothing of interest was found and despite the continued symptoms, the search for the cause was at a standstill.

Medical Marijuana helps, cures, treats nausea in Seniors

Eating wasn't a rewarding sensation for my body and because of that, I've always been on the lean side. Often, I need an extra push to eat. Over the years I've worked to isolate foods that caused irritation and that has helped to some degree. Still, I routinely suffer from an uneasy stomach.

There have been times when the volatility of my stomach was making life a nightmare. Nothing had worked for me, I turned to Medical Marijuana.

It helped ease the symptoms and occasionally even made me crave some food. When the option to become a MMJ patient in Washington, with legal protection became available, I jumped on the opportunity. To get a card, you needed a Dr. recommendation. It wasn't difficult to get, considering my conditions. Each year that you renewed your card, you were given a new check-up by the doctor where they offered advice and possible solutions. My third year of renewing, the Dr. and I finally came up with an idea of what was causing a lifetime of pain. I went through a variety of tests and procedures at an unrelated Dr. office to avoid biased results. Ironically, my MMJ Doctor figured out what other medical professionals failed to diagnose for decades.

Ultimately, it worked for me when nothing else had. If I have nausea, I can smoke some MMJ and get immediate relief. It calms my stomach down and helps loosen the muscles that are constricting. When smoking / vaporizing, it takes less than a minute to feel the positive effects. Having that relief has made a wonderful impact on my quality of life and attitude in general. I'd recommend Medical Marijuana to others suffering from Nausea, absolutely."
