A common misconception about people who use Marijuana, is that they become lazy, demotivated people, who never strive to achieve greatness. Coming from our perspective, it is a laughable thought. We have been blessed to meet hundreds of successful and creative people whom all share a passion for life and conquering challenges. They also happen to be MMJ users.

Fortune magazine released an article last week titled - "All of theses CEO's have admitted to smoking Marijuana". This is a wonderful example of well-regard leaders breaking the social taboo behind Marijuana.

With 23 states having some form of MMJ or adult-use laws on the books, many current and former CEO's are coming out in favor of either decriminalization or legalization. Close to our home, Bill Gates from Microsoft as well as John Mackey of Whole Foods, have both gone on record to support legalization. This isn't limited to the United States either, Sir Richard Branson has vocally expressed interest investing in the Marijuana industry, should he be given a legal opportunity to do so.

Other successful people from the world of business have thrown their own money behind legalization efforts. Facebook co-founders Sean Parker and Dustin Moskovitz combined to contribute $800,000 towards legalization efforts in California. Famed investor George Soros combined with others, raised $3.7 million for Proposition 36, back in 2000. With the MMJ Industry gaining steam, thousands of outside investors are pouring in. Some of the names, might come as a surprise.

We've selected three examples of successful people who smoked Marijuana from the Fortune article for you -

Michael Bloomberg

Former three-term mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg is founder, CEO and owner of the Bloomberg media company. In 2001, prior to running for mayor, he was interviewed by New York magazine and asked if he had ever smoked marijuana. Famously, he answered, “You bet I did. And I enjoyed it.”

George Zimmer

George Zimmer, the founder and former CEO of Men’s Wearhouse, has been smoking pot for decades. He guarantees it.

In September, he told CNBC that he’s “been smoking marijuana on a regular basis for about 50 years.” He’s advocates legalization, and CNBC said that he’s expected to throw his support behind a 2016 California ballot initiative to legalize recreational marijuana use.

Mark Johnson

Mark Johnson is the CEO and co-founder of Descartes Labs, a Los Alamos-based tech company. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Zite, a company based in Silicon Valley that created personalized news streams for mobile devices. When he was still at Zite, he told Bloomberg that he smoked marijuana day in and day out, and that pot use was so widespread among Silicon Valley tech workers that it simply isn’t an issue.

“People just don’t care,” he said. “If you do, you don’t need to hide it; and if you don’t, you accept that there are people around you that do.” He also pooh-poohed the idea that smoking pot would affect anyone’s productivity. “Pot is an extremely functional drug,” he said. “Coders can code on it, writers can write on it.”

Evidence of successful Pot smokers is all around us. It may be the music we listen to, the art we enjoy in galleries, a fun new food idea or a Fortune 500 company. As the stigma fades, more and more people will become less hesitant and will readily admit to their use of Marijuana, whether it be for medical purposes or just for the fun of it. Regardless, we should all agree, smoking MMJ isn't a life sentence to laziness and obscurity.
